Hello, fellow readers!
Today we celebrate Indie Pride Day, a movement that supports independent authors around the world. Every year on July 1st, authors take selfies of themselves with their books and take to social media using the #IndiePrideDay and #IndieBooksBeSeen hashtags.
Why should readers care?
Ah, dear readers, but don't you see, independent authors are only the BEST for so many reasons!
The indie community is one of the friendliest, most helpful places to be when you are a newbie writer just getting started. There are various groups on Facebook, (My favorite being Authors-Professional Co-op) that are there to support each other by answering questions and giving feedback. We don't see other writers as competition; we recognize that we are all in this together.
Indie authors are also some of the best writers I have ever had the pleasure of meeting (Online. I wish I knew these people in real life!). Many avid readers are under the impression that indies, specifically self-published authors, "couldn't hack it" with big name publishers and were forced to publish their books themselves. This is not the case. Many authors choose to self-publish or go through a small publishing company because of the freedom they have when it comes to their story and the final product. Talent has nothing to do with it.
In fact, I have a few indies that I immediately purchase whenever they put out a new release because they are just that good. Seriously, their books are magic.
So, what can you do, dear reader, to help this wonderful movement? Share any of the posts you see with those special hashtags. Show indies love by buying their books, telling your friends, and leaving reviews. In return, we'll keep putting our hearts and souls into the stories that you love.
Happy Indie Pride Day, everyone!
All my love to you, fellow indies!
In which I talk about books, writing, and life in general.

Indie Pride Day 2017
Hello everyone! Yes, I know, it's been a while, but I am back and ready to blog it up.
It is Indie Pride Day, and I am proud to support my fellow indie authors from around the world. Indie authors, musicians, and artists can sometimes have a bad reputation because they are not with a big-name company. People may not consider reading their books, buying their art, or listening to their music because they don't believe they take their craft seriously. I say that is bologna! Many of us choose not to go with such companies so we can have the freedom of doing things our way. That does NOT make our work sub-par!
We are passionate about what we do and put 100% into our work. We authors spend hours locked away in front of computers and tons of cash (that we sometimes don't have) to bring our stories to life. So show your favorite indies some love and share their Facebook pages, Twitter accounts, websites, blogs, etc.
Let’s get the word out and show everyone just how great indies truly are. Use the #indieprideday or #IndieBooksBeSeen hashtags on Twitter today! Visit the Facebook event for Indie Pride Day and discover some new-to-you authors!

June Reads and Reviews
It's Indie Pride Day!
What better way to celebrate than to share some great indie books with you guys. Here is what I read in June by some wonderful indie authors.
Mr. Brooks & His Women
by Nessa Dearmond (B. J. Taylor)
Rating: 3 Stars
Review:
A short, dirty erotica that will certainly give you some naughty visuals! My only complaint is the editing issues and overuse of certain phrases throughout. Otherwise, quick, hot fun.
To purchase this title, find it on Amazon here.
Slice Girls: An Anthology of Feminazi Splatter Goth
by Various Authors
Rating: 4 Stars
Review:
I enjoyed this collection of various revenge and horror stories. A fun read that will keep you on your toes.
This title is no longer available on Amazon but you can find it on Goodreads here.
Sylvia's Torment
by Veronica del Rosa
Rating: 5 Stars
Review:
An amazing story of finding your own inner hope and determination in the midst of torture and pain. I love how even in the pits of despair, when all hope seemed lost, Sylvia still remained strong and saved herself. Even better, the Alpha that she is in love with respects her strength and pushes her to do her best, instead of coddling her and trying to constantly protect her.
Well written with action, steamy romance, and a lesson in staying strong to defeat the prison of your own mind.
To purchase this title, find it on Amazon here.
Bayou Shadow Hunter
by Debbie Herbert
Rating: 5 Stars
Review:
A steamy page turner!
Well written and exciting, this book was hard to put down. I enjoyed the characters' journeys of self discovery and how they saved each other from loneliness and fear. Great read!
To purchase this title, find it on Amzon here.

Jane
by Rose Montague

Review:
Fast paced fun!
Non-stop action once again in the continuing tales of the three J'amigos. Jane and Jade showed their true power as they battled a nearly unkillable foe. The mix of supernatural creatures involved added flavor to this tasty treat.
My only complaints are the sprinkling of editing issues and the repetitiveness. Besides that, I thoroughly enjoyed following Jane and Jade around the world as they made new friends and discovered how deep their love truly was. Can't wait for Jill, the third installment!

I also caught up on the comic I Hate Fairyland and the manga Kamisama Hajimemashite, both very different stories but loads of fun.
Happy Indie Pride Day everyone! Authors, wave your indie flags high and be proud of what you have accomplished. Readers, what are you waiting for? Get some amazing indie titles today!
