I haven't posted reviews in a while so I thought I'd show you what I have been reading lately. Discover some new-to-you indie authors!
Miranda's Rights

Review:
Though
I knew exactly how this book was going to go when Miranda came back as a
vampire, it was still an entertaining ride. We find out more about
Angelica herself through flashbacks and it made her more real to me as a
character. Danny begins honing his own special gifts, though I would
have liked to see him struggle more with it as opposed to us being told
that he struggled.
I wasn't feeling Miranda as a character, though.
There was nothing likable about her, so I find it hard to believe that
Danny was ever engaged to her. Also, if he has always known she was
selfish and Angelica never trusted her, why would they trust her to help
them with a case now?
The only plot twist I didn't see coming was the very end, and that was a nice way to set up the next book in the series.

Review:
A nice end to a trilogy!
The
three J'Amigos are back with non-stop action from page one. These
females are not only badass, but totally confident and eager to help
each other fight the forces of evil. We follow our heroines as they
traverse new worlds, encounter new dangers, and basically get splattered
with gore on multiple occasions. A perfect ending, and a perfect intro
to the Norma Jean's School of Witchery series.
Sunlight Girl

Review:
This
is a new favorite. Spencer and Emerson's story was equal parts dark and
enlightening. I honestly can't think of enough words to express what a
beautiful and touching story this was. It is certainly inspiring for
victims of abuse, whether it's the physical, mental, or emotional kind.
And though I can't agree completely with her view of suicide victims,
the story does an excellent job of revealing the other side of that coin
by showing the world through the eyes of a loved one.
Overall, amazing story that I could not put down.
The Truth Will Out

Review:
This
was an interesting, fast-paced read. I could tell from the start that
Sarah was Kelly, so no twist there, but I certainly didn't see the main
protagonist coming. The action scenes were done quite well. I wouldn't
have minded a slightly more fleshed out romance, but overall, this was a
good read.
Overall, lots of goodies by female authors. (I didn't plan it that way, I swear!) I hope you check them out and find some you enjoy.

Review:
Each book of this series just keeps getting better! We get to know these
characters so intimately, so completely, that they become absolutely
real. I laughed with them, cried with them, and triumphed with them.
This series has possessed me now and I can't wait to read the final
book!

Angel Within

Review:
An amazing sequel to Demon Within! New friendships and new enemies.
Love, betrayal, heartache. And some steamy sex scenes too! This
beautifully written tale of friendship, loyalty, and the lengths one
will go to protect those you love is my new favorite of Julie's.

Norma Jean's School of Witchery: Book Two: Ghost School
by Rose Montague

Review:
Another exciting adventure of Jewel the witch! Things become more
complicated and the action is non-stop in this sequel to the first
addictive book of the Norma Jean's School of Witchery series. Though
very few scenes actually take place in the school, following Jewel as
she becomes more powerful and endures new quests is more entertaining
than ever. I had a hard time putting it down and can't wait for the
third book!

The Promise
by C. E. Wilson
Rating: 5 Stars
Review:
This is the most beautiful, most tragic story that brought me to tears
over and over again. Once I started reading this tale of Lily and her
shrinking situation, I just couldn't stop. Sometimes loving someone just
isn't enough and though letting them go is painful, it can be for the
best. It's a hard lesson to learn for Erik and Lily but one that leads
to happiness later on.

Rarely do I give so many five star reviews in one month but these books were fabulous reads! I also read some more volumes of the Kamisama Hajimemashita manga, Batman: The Killing Joke, and a few of those side Harry Potter books: The Tales of Beedle the Bard, Quidditch Through the Ages, and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. I had to get myself ready for the new Harry Potter book, after all!

I have so much reading to catch up on that it's ridiculous!
My kindle app is full, I have a real Kindle sitting collecting dust, I have some downloaded books on my computer, and then there are the paperbacks double stacked on my bookshelf. There is just not enough time in the day for reading!
I'm going to go back one month and post some reviews that I gave for what books I have been able to knock off my TBR. Some I enjoyed immensely, some, not so much. I give honest reviews but I try not to be a douche canoe about it.
I finished The Sandman Volume Five on October 19th. I gave it five stars because, well, awesome! I have to say that though every book in this series isn't gold, I am loving it so far as a whole. Can't wait to read the next one. (Which will be soon.) I don't tend to give reviews to "trade" books unless it was so phenomenal that I fan-girl screamed.
Cloak of Shadows

Review:
What an exciting and well-written story!
I love that the world was
introduced slowly; the scenery and characters fleshed out with such
detail. Creating such relatable characters made their successes and
failures truly resonate. The secret, magical world they were a part of
was introduced piece by piece. The author is a master of giving the
reader action and romance all while keeping them intrigued by the
mysteries of how this secret society worked and each character's place
in it.
Wonderful read! Highly recommended!

Norma Jean's School of Witchery Book One: Jewel

A suspenseful, action packed tale!
This book follows the young witch
Jewel and her exciting adventures as she enters a new school, makes new
friends, and deals with assassination attempts, a budding romance, and
loss. Finding out you have rare witch powers is hard enough but having
to learn to utilize them to save your friend's lives is a hell of a way
to spend your school year!
Fast paced and fun, this book was a great YA read I would recommend to any lover of fantasy.
Having read this wonderful book, I now have to read Jade, Jane and the next installment of this series!

Jaded (3 Book Series)
by Ali Parker
Rating: Overall, 4 Stars
Review:
(Book 1) A great introduction to Kari and her friends. I enjoyed how the story
played out slowly, really letting you get to know the characters
intimately. Great read!
(Book 2) Not as detailed as the first book but a good introduction to Jake and
his own heartbreak. We immediately see the sparks between Jake and Kari
but they do seem to be taking it a bit fast for two individuals who have
been hurt by loved ones, especially since he never let his wounds heal
and hers are still so fresh.
(Book 3) Not the best installment of this series but good nonetheless. This last book feels a bit more rushed than the previous two. Kari still has serious trust issues and because of that, I feel like they should slow down a bit. If she doubts him as soon as he leaves town, how will they ever have a meaningful relationship?
