Hello, all.
I do hope your Halloween was enjoyable. I made my own Viking costume and threatened people with an ax. Good times. What did you dress as?
I wanted to pop in and share some news with you, valued readers. Hollow Hills has a new anthology coming out next month titled STILL STANDING. This collection of short stories and poetry will benefit Crisis Text Line, a non-profit that helps those in crisis. Find out more about this wonderful organization here.
Various authors came together bringing unique fantasy and science fiction tales to this amazing anthology. The stories and poems involve bullying, harassment, or ill-treatment by others in some way. The stories may get dark, but there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. Our protagonists will not be kept down because in the end they are still standing tall.
For more information about each story in the anthology, visit the Hollow Hills website.
My story, "The Brave Blacksmith" is about a man who became a legend but walked away from his past life. Now he does odd jobs, enduring bullying from local villagers and even his own employers sometimes. Merely trying to make it through each day while dealing with his own inner demons, the queen of his land suddenly calls upon him to track down and help a sorcerer in a neighboring kingdom. Accepting the quest may mean a break from his daily struggles, but his pain still follows him as he heads out with his trusty tools to locate a powerful stranger.
Follow Blacksmith on his adventures in STILL STANDING, coming December 14th. Pre-orders are available now.

Thanks for reading and I hope my American friends had a great 4th of July weekend!
That's right, folks. The Some By Day, Some By Night series has a new addition!
I was pretty excited to get this one published so let me give you guys the yummy details. The Smell of Death & A Taste of Blood is a collection of short vampire stories of horror, action, and tragedy. Here is the summary:

Isn't that cover just wonderful? Eye catching and creepy, just what I wanted! The talented Julie Nicholls did an amazing job!
Though this collection is part of the Some By Day, Some By Night series, it also involves characters from the sister series, Lord Gerard's Coven. Both series involve vampires throughout history, their stories intertwining and proceeding into the distant future. The difference is, Some By Day focuses on the individual vampires and their personal struggles and romances. Lord Gerard focuses more on the small battles, impending wars, and other science fiction fun. I recommend reading both to get all the delicious backstories!
The Smell of Death & A Taste of Blood is available at Amazon here.
Happy reading, everyone!
I last posted an update on the books I was reading in November last year. Let me catch you up to the end of the year so we can start this year fresh. I met my Goodreads Reading Challenge last year. In fact, I blew that goal out of the water. I intended to read 35 books and I read 80!
Without further ado, here are the reviews for books I read from November 16th to December 31st, 2016.
Prince in the Mist
by Claudy Conn
Rating: 2 Stars
Review:
An
okay read. I did feel that it lacked a lot of character detail and
sensory detail, those small things that really draw the reader in. The
story itself was good, if not predictable. The sex scenes fell flat.

Patriotic Duty
by C.J. Pinard
Rating: 3 Stars
Review:
Pretty decent story. The romance was sweet, sex scenes okay. I think my
main complaint was the excessive action details. She opened a door, she
locked a door, she relayed every single text conversation, etc. It was a
good story but I think the fact that she was in denial about her
feelings, and knew she was in denial, was overly stressed. I was just
ready for her to admit her feelings and move on. Who could live for over
a year that miserable?
A little more showing and less telling, and
the main character being a bit more likable would have made this more of
a memorable read. Not bad but not awesome.

Past Life Strife
by Christina McMullen
Rating: 4 Stars
Review:
A great read with an interesting take on angels, demons, and everything
in between! Though a bit slow in places, I was drawn into this story and
it's characters immediately. A wonderful start to a series.

Fang and Claw
by Markie Madden
Rating: 5 Stars
Review:
I don't usually read the crime genre but this book was amazing! The
strained relationship between Lacey and Colton is laid out in perfect
detail. The supernatural element was almost irrelevant, the characters
became so human in my eyes! Even during slow moments, the characters
kept the story interesting, moving from forced kindness and stiff
responses at the beginning to humor and playful banter by the end. And
the mysterious case certainly kept me in suspense.
Great read!

Magic Resistant
by Veronica Del Rosa
Rating: 5 Stars
Review:
I
thoroughly enjoyed this story. It has everything I'm looking for in a
paranormal romance and more! The world-building was wonderfully done.
The insight into the characters was perfect. The building of sexual
tension between Julia and Jackson was delicious. Even a mystery at the
end to leave you longing for more! Very well done, a marvelous beginning
to a series.

Ride Me Hard
by Shari Slade
Rating: 4 Stars
Review:
Sometimes
when you feel like your life is going nowhere and you have nothing to
lose, you make choices that any rational person would certainly
question. Star just wants to lose herself with the sexy, dangerous biker
who threatens her life. But will it be worth it in the end?
A hot, quick read that is a great start to a series.

Not For Sale
by Julie Nicholls
Rating: 4 Stars
Review:
Short but hot read that had me hooked from the first sentence.

The Black Chapel
by Marilyn Cruise
Rating: 4 Stars
Review:
I
expected a quick, sexy read but was surprised by a well planned,
emotional story that drew me in and kept me hostage! Great start to a
trilogy, I must read the next book immediately.
The White Chapel
by Marilyn Cruise
Rating: 4 Stars
Review:
Just
when things are finally looking up for Scarlett and Michael, the shit
hits the fan and the heartbreak begins anew. This author has a unique
talent for drawing me into the main character's life and making me
sympathize with her, even when she makes bad choices. Excited to read
the conclusion!

Besides indie books, I read volumes six and seven in The Sandman graphic novel series and also started a new-to-me series, iZombie. I love the TV show so I was thrilled to read the comics. Completely different but still great!
Until next time, guys, be sure to enjoy a good read now and then to escape into an adventurous new world.
Hello my lovelies!
I'm very excited to tell everyone about the new cover Julie Nicholls has created for me for my vampire romance short, The Life She Didn't Take. Check it out, it is so gorgeous!
Isn't it beautiful? Serahfine is exactly how I have always pictured her. Come follow her journey from despair to dawning hope and find out what makes this redhead so feisty! The Life She Didn't Take is still 99 cents on Amazon!
In other news, I am currently editing and formatting a collection of short stories that I plan on publishing in November. No set date yet but hope to have it ready well before the middle of the month. This collection will include tales of horror, fantasy, and science fiction. Most have unexpected surprises in store if you dare to read them! I'm really excited to finally publish stories in a different genre. Though the title is still cooking, stay tuned for more information in upcoming posts.
Happy October guys!
Well, it isn't brand new. It's a re-release, actually, but it's the first time I'm releasing it all on my own. Here's the deal:
In 2012, my erotic short story The Life She Didn't Take was published through a small
publishing company under my pen name Marie Krepps. Then the rights reverted back to me. Now it's back and better than ever with a new cover
and an extended story. Another exciting new feature: for the first
time, it's available in paperback!
Here's the blurb:
Serahfine has walked these streets time and time again. Endless
centuries alone have her longing for death's release. But on this night
when she means to end it all, she meets someone who intrigues her.
Is this a chance encounter or destiny?
Can an ageless vampire truly find happiness with a mere human?
The release date for The Life She Didn't Take is set for July, 31st, 2015. I'm super excited to get this one back out there and to actually be able to purchase my own physical copy!
This story is a part of a series of vampire shorts and novels called Some By Day, Some By Night. At this time, I have one novel and a few more shorts planned for the series but who knows how long it could end up being?
This is a very complex vampire world that will end up spanning a few different genres, especially it's sister series Lord Gerard's Coven. I can promise you, you've never seen vampires exactly like these. That's right, prepare yourselves for much more to come from Marie Krepps!
So this Friday, visit my Facebook author page or my website for more info on how to get your copy of The Life She Didn't Take.
Oh yes, we're also having a Facebook release party on Friday and everyone is invited! Some wonderful authors are hosting and it's going to be an evening of fun games, naughty discussions, and prizes! Stop on by and you might even get a sneak peek of the story straight from the pages of The Life She Didn't Take!
